Lester Sparkes
1957-2022

It is with great sorrow and heartache that we, the family, announce
the passing of Lester ("Les") Gordon Sparkes,
surrounded by his loving family, on April 10, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Les is predeceased by his parents, Alice (Rodgers) and Roy Sparkes; mother-in-law, Mona Bursey; and brothers-in-law, Keith and Carl Bursey.
Les leaves to mourn his wife and forever soulmate, Joanne; daughter Lesley-Ann (Duncan); step daughters: Katrina (Denes), Kristy (Jamie), and Chantelle (Gord); sisters, Sylvia (Alf) and Marion (Glenn); father-in-law, Douglas (Kay); sister-in-law, Jill (Dave) and brother-law, Rick (Delores).
Les had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces as well as so many wonderful and dear friends.
Les was an extremely proud grandfather, and his grandchildren were his rainbows and sunshine. His will and determination to fight this battle was knowing that he could continue to see the world through the eyes of his grandchildren. Les will be lovingly remembered by Ry-Lynn, Hayden, Hudson, Nathan, Conor, Krisztian, Adrian and Drew.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dawn Armstrong and Dr. Cheryl Hurley for their empathy and professionalism.
To the wonderful staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre, thank you for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Les during his journey.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Hopkins' Funeral Home, Old Perlican on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm. and 7:00 pm. to 9:00 pm.
Funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm. from Bethel United Church, Sibley's Cove. Interment to follow.
The family requests that masks be worn during the visitation and funeral service.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Les' memory to the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
