Bertille Hyde
1945-2022

It is with great sadness the family of Bertille Lenora (Walsh) Hyde
announce her peaceful passing on January 4, 2022 at 76 years of age.
Predeceased by beloved husband, Joseph Hyde and infant daughter, Debra; loving parents, Edward and Bridget Walsh; cherished brothers, Ray and Brian Walsh; and adored sister-in-law, Eileen Walsh.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: Edward, Neil (Jen), Christine (Jody) and Marie (Steve);
cherished grandchildren: Emily, Andrew, Aiden, Catherine and Winnie;
adoring brothers, Gerard, Ronnie (Joyce), Robert (Eileen) and David (Rochelle); lifelong friends and sisters-in-law, Evelyn and Doreen Walsh;
as well as nieces, nephews, extended Walsh and Hyde families; and the many friends she loved like family.
Born on Little Hill, Bay de Verde on July 8, 1945, Bertille grew up surrounded by love, music and laughter. She became a passionate teacher, beginning her dedicated career at age 17. It was a job that took her as far away as St. Fintan's, then ultimately brought her back to her beloved Bay de Verde. She spent many happy years teaching at Tricon Elementary, where she developed lifelong friendships and made wonderful memories that stayed with her throughout the years.
Bertille had a very strong faith, and dedicated much of her time to Assumption Parish, Bay de Verde and St. Anne's in Red Head Cove. A devoted choir member since the age of 5, her beautiful voice has filled the church for countless masses, weddings, funerals, and other celebrations.
Bertille was happiest surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and music, but there was nothing in this world that brought her more joy than her grandchildren: Emily, Andrew, Aiden, Catherine, and Winnie. She was an incredible "Nanny Hyde" - their biggest supporter, the best role model, and a constant source of love that will stay with them forever.
The family will be forever grateful for the wonderful care Bertille always received at the Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre in Old Perlican, especially during her last days. "Thank you" will never be enough for your exceptional care and compassion.
Through her experiences and wisdom, Bertille guided many of us. She taught others how to appreciate and enjoy life, no matter what challenges we face. Also, to treat all people with kindness and respect. Although our hearts are broken and she will be forever missed, her strength, light, and love will live on.
Cremation has taken place.
